Interview
At Luckee, we’re committed to bringing you undiluted fun, education, and a good dose of real talk. But let’s be honest, pulling this one off was not a walk on the street.
We decided to take you behind the scenes of what goes into curating the kind of stories that make you think, laugh, and maybe even rethink. Our first-ever blog interview features none other than Fisayo, the founder of Gamble Alert — a platform that sensitizes people about responsible gaming and gambling addiction in Nigeria
Scheduling a time with him didn’t pose much of an issue. Despite his busy schedule, he was open to sharing his knowledge and more than happy to be on the call with us.
Now here’s where it gets funny: When we finally fixed a date and were ready for our interview, the Nigerian ogbanjes had a meeting and decided, “Not today!” because our inverter and PC crashed mid-interview. 😭 We lost the recording and had to fight tooth and nail to retrieve it. But in the end, perseverance (and a little luck) won. Mr. Fisayo, being the absolute gentleman, understood completely.
So yes, what you’re about to read took effort, late nights, tech battles, and a sprinkle of divine patience to curate. So please, share, repost, and tell a friend. We earned this one. 😅
🎯 Beyond the Disclaimers: Fisayo’s Fresh Take on Responsible Gaming
When asked how gaming companies can go beyond the usual “18+” disclaimers at the bottom of their websites, Fisayo didn’t miss a beat. He spoke passionately about self-exclusion systems — a tool that allows players who feel they’re getting addicted to voluntarily block themselves from all gambling platforms in Nigeria for a set period of time.
“They can always review and adjust it when they feel in control again,” he explained, pointing out that states like Lagos already mandate operators to integrate such features into their apps.
But beyond tools, Fisayo emphasized something deeper — unity. He explained that while gaming in Nigeria is regulated at the state level, most states are not enforcing addiction-prevention policies in unison. Each state wants to attract more operators and drive up its revenue, which leaves gaps in responsible gaming enforcement.
The result? A fragmented system where policies differ across states and vulnerable players slip through the cracks.
🧠 When AI Knows You’re Betting Your School Fees (Literally)
At one point, our conversation drifted toward the use of AI and behavioral data in detecting addiction patterns. Fisayo, ever the educator, laughed and said, “This isn’t a seminar o!” before painting some eye-opening examples.
He described a scenario where a player registers as a student in their KYC details and usually stakes ₦1,000 — but suddenly deposits ₦100,000. “That’s a red flag,” he said. “The AI could detect that the person is probably staking their school fees.”
Another example: a player who identifies as a salary earner and usually bets small amounts, but suddenly increases stakes right after payday. “That behavior tells the system that this person is likely gambling their salary,” he explained.
In short, with the right data and AI systems, operators can actually predict and prevent harmful gambling patterns before they spiral.
And our interviewer introduced Mr Fisayo to our own new initiative currently in private beta — the LPAD system (Live to Play Another Day), which you can read more about in our previous blog post here.
💬 Creating Safe Spaces and Support Networks
Fisayo also highlighted something many overlook which is the importance of community. He recommended that operators introduce support groups within their platforms where players who feel addicted can seek help, share experiences, and find encouragement from people who truly understand what they’re going through.
⚖️ Regulation: The Fine Line Between Freedom and Safety
When we asked Fisayo about regulation, his answer hit home. He said,
“There has to be a balance. You don’t want to under-regulate and leave players vulnerable… but you also don’t want to over-regulate and drive them into the black market.”
He’s absolutely right. It’s a delicate dance; keeping the gaming ecosystem safe without stifling innovation or pushing players toward unlicensed platforms. And that balance, he says, will define the future of gaming in Nigeria.
📊 Leveraging AI and Data for a Safer Gaming Space
Mr Fisayo believes the future of responsible gaming will be built on AI and data analytics. With the right systems, operators can monitor betting trends, identify problem behavior early, and even design smarter intervention programs.
This isn’t about punishment — it’s about protection.
🏛️ A Symposium to Remember — and Luckee Was There
This year, Gamble Alert hosted a national symposium that brought together operators, regulators, and the media to discuss gambling awareness and responsibility in Nigeria. And yes, Luckee was there!
Our CEO, Chikwado Ewuzie, graced the occasion alongside other industry leaders. The event sparked important conversations about collaboration, regulation, and the role of technology in creating a safer, smarter gaming culture in Nigeria.
🌟 In Closing…
Our interview with Fisayo was nothing short of educative, intuitive, and mind-blowing. He’s a fountain of insight (even his written content portrays it all), a true professional, and a man on a mission to make gaming safer and smarter for everyone.
We genuinely wish more operators and platform providers would take a moment to pick Fisayo’s brain because Nigeria’s gaming ecosystem needs more thinkers like him.
If you’d love to learn from him directly or attend his next seminar, stay tuned to Gamble Alert’s channels and his amazing game of contents on his page and of course, keep an eye on our blog. We’ll bring you the gist first. 😉 It was a fun exchange of ideas, and let’s just say… great minds really do think alike.
